Prevent Worry-Free Purchase product from being purchased alone in Shopify

Implementation Method

We utilize Shopify's Checkout Rules functionality to prevent Worry-Free Purchase products from being added to cart without accompanying base products.

Before you use this feature, you will need to ensure the Seel app is up to date in your store. You will also need to manually enable this feature in your checkout rules.

Setup Instructions

1. Navigate to Shopify Admin → Settings → Checkout
2. Scroll to the bottom of the page to find "Checkout Rules" section

• Click “Add rule”

  

• Select seel-coverage-validation

  

• Click Save

  

• Turn the rule ON

  

• Then the rule is enabled

  

Customer Experience After Implementation

Product Detail Page (PDP):

• Customers attempting to add Worry-Free Purchase products alone will see an error message
• Purchase is blocked at the product level

Checkout Page:

• If customers bypass PDP restrictions and force Worry-Free Purchase products into cart alone, they'll encounter error messages

• Checkout completion is prevented

  

• Note: These blocked attempts will NOT count as abandoned carts

⚠️ Important Cart Management Limitation

Cart Management Restriction

Scenario: When a cart contains both base product (Product A) and Worry-Free Purchase opted in:

• If customers attempt to remove Product A first, they will encounter an error

  

• This occurs because the rule enforces that Worry-Free Purchase cannot exist alone in cart
• Interim Solution: Customers must remove Worry-Free Purchase first, then base products
